At My Front Door – Knock, Knock, Knock

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 30, 2020 by pwalterNovember 30, 2020

At My Front Door. Mr. Dino and I are getting acquainted. We’ve been practicing pretty musette songs, which sound great on him. Then, while turning pages, up pops At My Front Door. I was 11 back in 1955 and don’t remember this song. But, even Pat Boone did a version of it. Meanwhile, we had fun rocking it out. Usually Mr. Roland works best for that, but Mr. Dino needs to get a bit of exercise. It was just for fun. The 50’s and 60’s rock song are fun to play since they only have a few different chords. Favorites for us mature players! LOL “At My Front Door” is a song written by Ewart Abner and John Moore and performed by The El Dorados. It reached #1 on the U.S. R&B chart and #17 on the U.S. pop chart in 1955.[1] The song was featured on their 1957 album, Crazy Little Mama.… Read the rest

Can’t Help Falling in Love

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 30, 2020 by pwalterNovember 30, 2020

Can’t Help Falling In Love. Love at first squeeze with Mr. Dino. Dino Baffetti that is. No, he is not replacing Mr. Roland. But, it is nice to play an acoustic accordion and feel the depth of the base and vibration of the sound. He is my new, slightly used, accordion. Trading Mr. Weiltmeister for him. Wanted an accordion with more quality sound and range. Just another instument than the Roland. Thought this was an appropriate song since I am sure the accordionship will go a long way. I have to get use to playing smoothly again. Great fun and pleasure to play Mr. Dino. His bass C button has a rhinestone in it instead of a cup. After 70 years of bass C with a dent, a bump sure is different. Will get use to it. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” is a song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley for the album Blue Hawaii (1961). It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss and published by Gladys Music, Inc. The melody is based on “Plaisir d’amour”, a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini.… Read the rest

Wings of a Dove

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 6, 2020 by pwalterNovember 6, 2020

Wings of a Dove. Good song for the times we are living in! I saw this on Brandy’s list for 1961 songs. I was 17 and remember it. Nice upbeat tune. After playing for a half an hour, my fingers switched to a swing 4 beat version. It was fun to do. I can hear the wonderful fills and runs the accomplished players would do, but I am lucky to make my 76 year old fingers move at all! I had a lot of fun working this out. This is my 76 year old lady swing! LOL Couldn’t find any neat graphics, so it is basically music. “Wings of a Dove’ is a country song written by Bob Ferguson in 1958. “Wings of a Dove” was most popular when it was recorded by Ferlin Husky in 1960. The Ferlin Husky recording went to number one on the country charts for 10 nonconsecutive weeks.… Read the rest

Tennessee Waltz

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 3, 2020 by pwalterNovember 3, 2020

Tennessee Waltz for my friend Jeanie. She requested it a long time ago but I hadn’t played it since she wanted me to sing it. HUM Surprisingly for such a simple song it has a bit more range in it than I have. I gave it a try and I realize that I am not a singer, but will entertain when I can. So for the sake of entertaining my friend, I did Tennessee Waltz for her. It is a very pretty song and very sad! “Tennessee Waltz” is a popular country music song with lyrics by Redd Stewart and music by Pee Wee King written in 1946 and first released in January 1948. The song became a multimillion seller via a 1950 recording – as “The Tennessee Waltz” – by Patti Page.… Read the rest

Tumbling Tumbleweeds

Accordion Player Pat Posted on June 22, 2020 by pwalterJune 22, 2020

Tumbling Tumbleweeds played by the campfire. I just threw a few more logs on the fire from the other day and kept the cowboy hat on. Fun song. Word and Music by Bob Nolan back in 1934 Great photos and fire by Pixebay Thank You. . Played with my Roland FR 4X Accordion. There’s a great clipity cloppitiy base behind it, but the small devices don’t play the base like the larger speakers.
