Country Sunshine

Accordion Player Pat Posted on April 7, 2021 by pwalterApril 7, 2021

Country Sunshine – It’s a beautiful Spring day in Ohio. What better way to enjoy it than sing about the sunshine. Mr. Dino gave me a shoutout this morning and said – “hey – Yee Haw.” I got the message and pulled up this neat foot tapper. I hope it brings a little sunshine to your day. “Country Sunshine” is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Dottie West and released in 1973.… Read the rest

Your Cheatin’ Heart

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 29, 2021 by pwalterMarch 29, 2021

“Your Cheatin’ Heart” – This morning I opened my big fat country music fakebook right to page 250. I thought it a sign from the universe, PLAY THIS SONG. LOL So I got my cowboy hat out, my harmonica and guitar and had at it. Much fun for me. I hope you sing along and enjoy as much as I did. “Your Cheatin’ Heart” is a song written and recorded by country music singer-songwriter Hank Williams in 1952. It is regarded as one of country’s most important standards.… Read the rest

My New Hats – Sioux City Sue, Over Three Hills, Sitting on Top of the World and 2 more

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 28, 2021 by pwalterMarch 28, 2021

Cowboy – Sioux City Sue
Trolyen – Over Three Hills
Red – I’m Sitting On Top of the World
Brown, rust – Ballin’ The Jack
Blue – Blue Hawaii

My New Hats – A piece of silliness that came to life when my wonderful friend in NC asked me to tell her what I bought. Who doesn’t like buying hats on Amazon. LOL Such a selection. I find it fun to wear different hats with some of my videos. My silver, white hair gives the camera fits against the darker backgrounds. So a hat is a simple solution to a better looking video. I thought I would play a song for each hat!!!! That was fun filming. I am 76 and can’t remember my name some days, so trying to remember and transition between 5 songs was interesting and fun – to say the least. I should have been drinking, I am sure of that! The songs are not perfect but just a fun song for each hat.… Read the rest

Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 26, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 26, 2021

Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool – I saw this on one of the oldies lists posted the other day and thought, lets do it! I played it as a straight acoustic accordion piece with a little country swing. Mr. Dino has been complaining about Mr. Roland getting to do all the good songs, so I thought I would dust off poor Mr. Dino and make a video! LOL “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” is a song written by Jack Keller and Howard Greenfield that was a No. 1 hit for Connie Francis in 1960. A polka-style version in German, “Die Liebe ist ein seltsames Spiel”, was the first German single recorded and released by Connie Francis, and it reached No. 1 on the single chart in 1960 in West Germany.… Read the rest

Dream On Little Dreamer played as COVID MISERIES

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 11, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 11, 2021

Dream On Little Dreamer played as COVID MISERIES. This was written in 1964 by Fred B. Burch & Jan Crutchfield. Perry Como even did a hit recording of it. But the more I played it, the more it just felt like Covid Miseries. You may like it or not, but it pretty well sums up how many people are feeling these days. I apologize to Burch & Crutchfield, but music touches many people in many ways. This is just how I heard and felt it. I had fun with the guitar and harmonica on Mr. Roland.… Read the rest

Funny How Time Slips Away

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 11, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 11, 2021

Funny How Times Slips away written by Willie Nelson in 1961. I’ve been playing thru my big book of Country and Western Songs. Played this once, played it twice – knew I should make a video. Such pretty music. Great lyrics which I included. Just 3 peaceful minutes of music for your enjoyment. Background video from Pixabay.… Read the rest

Lyin’ Kisses

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 11, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 11, 2021

Lyin’ Kisses. For a few of my local friends that like country music. Sounded pretty much like a country song. It was recorded by Dick Caruso in 1959. I just had fun with this one. Could not find a recording of it on You Tube which is unusual. Found a copy of the sheet music from Rosemary Lane version in the UK. I hope you enjoy my little country song about Lyin’ Kisses… Read the rest

The Little White Cloud That Cried

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 10, 2020 by pwalterDecember 10, 2020

The Little White Cloud That Cried. So appropriate for the terrible times we are experiencing now. I was listening to some Johnnie Ray songs and heard this one today. I was only 7 years old back in 1951, but I remember this song and Cry. My Mom use to play the radio back then so I listened to all those great songs. I did not realize that I would still be listening almost 70 years later. Great music is timeless!!! I just love these old songs because they have such great lyrics and messages. Written by Johnnie Ray as a youngster, the song was the “B” side of Columbia Record’s first two-sided hit record. The “A” side was Ray’s first and biggest hit “Cry” and made it to #1 while “Cloud” made it to #2.… Read the rest

Please Mr. Sun

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 10, 2020 by pwalterDecember 10, 2020

Please Mr. Sun. I thought a sun song would be nice after the rain song yesterday. Some of my friends always ask why I don’t sing more. My answer is that I play accordion much better than I sing. LOL I did sing this one. Another pretty song from 1952. “Please, Mr. Sun” is a song written by Ray Getzov and Sid Frank and performed by Johnnie Ray featuring The Four Lads and the Jimmy Carroll Orchestra. It reached #6 on the U.S. pop chart in 1952. It was featured on his 1955 album, I Cry for You.… Read the rest

Rain

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 10, 2020 by pwalterDecember 10, 2020

Rain. I found this song when I was playing with Mr. Dino. Seemed like a great acoustic accordion song. I enjoyed playing it and decided to make a video. Not a wild, graphic action video – but just a mood piece with pretty chords. It is so beautifully written because Peter De Rose was the composer and he wrote fantastic songs. It was performed by Ella Fitzgerald in 1934. The nice video background is from Pixabay. Something a little different than Christmas songs.… Read the rest

Gotta Get Me Somebody To Love

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 3, 2020 by pwalterDecember 3, 2020

Gotta Get Me Somebody To Love. I was going through my really old books and found this song. Never heard it before, but really liked after playing it a few times. It sounded like a western song that a guitar or accordion player would sing and play around a campfire. So I dug up a campfire and did some singing and playing. Bing Crosby sang this song in 1946. So I am assuming it is about that old. It felt good sitting around the campfire on a chilly night. LOL… Read the rest
