Funny How Time Slips Away

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 11, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 11, 2021

Funny How Times Slips away written by Willie Nelson in 1961. I’ve been playing thru my big book of Country and Western Songs. Played this once, played it twice – knew I should make a video. Such pretty music. Great lyrics which I included. Just 3 peaceful minutes of music for your enjoyment. Background video from Pixabay.… Read the rest

Lyin’ Kisses

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 11, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 11, 2021

Lyin’ Kisses. For a few of my local friends that like country music. Sounded pretty much like a country song. It was recorded by Dick Caruso in 1959. I just had fun with this one. Could not find a recording of it on You Tube which is unusual. Found a copy of the sheet music from Rosemary Lane version in the UK. I hope you enjoy my little country song about Lyin’ Kisses… Read the rest

A Swingin’ Safari

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 6, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 6, 2021

A Swingin’ Safari written by Bert Kaempfert in 1962. A fun song to play. I definitely remember hearing this one the radio and TV back in my old days. Mr. Roland did a good job with some of his many, wonderful sounds. I hope it will bring a smile to your face and get your foot tapping. You can even get up and dance, I did when proofing the video. LOL… Read the rest

Please

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 4, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 4, 2021

Please is presented as a Musical Memory from 1932 – Songs I remember hearing and playing when I grew up in the 1940’s and 1950’s. I often played out of the two old Black Fake Books my Mom bought. I thought I would share some of those wonderful songs of the past. Beautiful songs with rich chords, melodies, rhythms and wonderful words. How so many wonderful songs have been born from those 7 white keys and 5 black keys is a true miracle of music to me. The number of song choices is in the thousands. I hope you enjoy the little bit of the past I share with you. Please was written by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger.… Read the rest

Ring Telephone Ring

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 4, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 4, 2021

Ring Telephone Ring is another beautiful old song from 1941. It just felt like the kind of song to play on an old, grey winter day. Would like to have done it perfectly, but the gig is not a paying gig, so I didn’t bother to record it several times trying to be perfect. Perfect is a difficult goal at this age. Most people don’t listen to the songs more than 30 seconds, so I have that covered. I hope my friends enjoy the nostalgic song from the past. Ring Telephone, Ringwas written by Peter Tinturin & Buck Ram.… Read the rest

Winter Wonderland

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 4, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 4, 2021

Winter Wonderland. After this week’s snowfall, I thought this was the song to play. Both a Christmas Song and Snow song! Very pretty song. I hope you enjoy my invitation to play in the snow for a few minutes! “Winter Wonderland” is a song written in 1934 by Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard Bernhard Smith. Due to its seasonal theme, it is often regarded as a Christmas song in the Northern Hemisphere. Since its original recording by Richard Himber, it has been covered by over 200 different artists.… Read the rest

The Christmas Song

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 17, 2020 by pwalterDecember 17, 2020

The Christmas Song. I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. No better way to do that than in a song. This is a beautiful song and a favorite of mine. I would normally do it as an instrumental, but I keep getting people asking me to sing. So I put my best effort forth and did a vocal with it. I hope it brightens your spiritis a bit. The Christmas Song is also commonly referred as “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” due to its famous opening lyrics and has been spreading Yuletide spirit since 1945, when it was written by pianist Mel Tormé and lyricist Bob Wells. While this beloved tune has been recorded by numerous artists over the years, none are more popular than Nat “King” Cole’s, who recorded it four times over the course of his career – and for good reason.… Read the rest

Silhouettes

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 17, 2020 by pwalterDecember 17, 2020

Silhouettes. Another fun, old song from 1957. I missed not having the doo-wops in the background, but did a little humming. LOL “Silhouettes” is a song made famous by the doo-wop group the Rays in 1957. A competing version by the Diamonds was also successful. In 1965 it was a number 5 hit in the US for Herman’s Hermits, and in 1990 it was a number 10 hit in the UK for Cliff Richard.… Read the rest

The Little White Cloud That Cried

Accordion Player Pat Posted on December 10, 2020 by pwalterDecember 10, 2020

The Little White Cloud That Cried. So appropriate for the terrible times we are experiencing now. I was listening to some Johnnie Ray songs and heard this one today. I was only 7 years old back in 1951, but I remember this song and Cry. My Mom use to play the radio back then so I listened to all those great songs. I did not realize that I would still be listening almost 70 years later. Great music is timeless!!! I just love these old songs because they have such great lyrics and messages. Written by Johnnie Ray as a youngster, the song was the “B” side of Columbia Record’s first two-sided hit record. The “A” side was Ray’s first and biggest hit “Cry” and made it to #1 while “Cloud” made it to #2.… Read the rest
