Spanish Eyes
Spanish Eyes is a great song and I don’t think I ever played a job in the past without playing it. A great crowd pleaser. “Moon Over Naples” is a 1964 instrumental composed and originally performed by German bandleader Bert Kaempfert. The earliest vocal version was recorded by Freddy Quinn in 1965 titled as “Spanish Eyes”… Read the rest
Round and Round
Round and Round. A fun impromptu video. A boring and lonely Saturday night, so Mr. Roland said open a book – to any page. Quickly saw Round and Round pop up. So we were off and dancing awaying. A really fun song. I remember listening to it many times when it was a Perry Como hit. Sing along, dance along and enjoy the bebop scatt singers. “Round and Round” is a popular song by Joe Shapiro and Lou Stallman published in 1956. A version of the song was recorded by Perry Como for RCA Victor on January 15, 1957 and was a big hit that year.… Read the rest
Sugartime 2021
Sugartime played by Pat Walter with her Roland FR 4X Digital Accordion recorded on Jun 3, 2020. I thought I would give it a little facelift and share it a year later. At least I know what I was doing that day last year besides sitting by myself and worrying about Covid. “Sugartime” is a popular song written by Charlie Phillips and Odis Echols, and published in 1957. The biggest hit version was by the McGuire Sisters, whose recording of it topped the Most Played chart in February 1958… Read the rest

Sitting in my little bedroom playing my accordion about like I do now, but I play in the living room these days. Still having as much fun as I did 66 years ago. Guess we don’t change much. Not perfect, but fun. I am trying out my new headset mic. Seems strange not trying to get in front of a mic while playing. Always an interesting problem. LOL I would rather just play, but people keep asking me to sing. “This Ole House” (sometimes written “This Old House”) is an American popular song written by Stuart Hamblen, and published in 1954. Rosemary Clooney’s version reached the top of the popular music charts in both the US and the UK in 1954. Hamblen was supposedly out on a hunting expedition when he and his fellow hunter, actor John Wayne, came across a hut in the mountains. Inside was the body of a man, and the man’s dog was still there, guarding the building. This inspired Hamblen to write “This Ole House”.… Read the rest
