A Lover’s Concerto

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 3, 2020 by pwalterNovember 3, 2020

A Lover’s Concerto. Just playing songs and listening to the wonderful sounds of the Roland. Got stuck on A Lover’s Concerto. Such a pretty piece. I decided to make a video where I could spend a few minutes away from the world using the pretty Roland sounds. Sorta a spur of the moment video. “A Lover’s Concerto” is a pop song written by American songwriters Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, and recorded in 1965 by the Toys.… Read the rest

Addams Family Theme

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 3, 2020 by pwalterNovember 3, 2020

Happy Halloween! I decided to do one more Halloween video, after all what else does a lone, single lady do on Halloween? I had so much fun with this one. Sorry, it went long. At 76, I can never remember if I did it 4 or 5 times! LOL The sound is a little crazy and the Roland is being pushed a bit into overdrive on purpose. So much fun. I hope you enjoy! The theme for the 1964 TV series The Addams Family was written and arranged by longtime Hollywood film and television composer Vic Mizzy. Thank You to the artists at Pixabay for the graphics and musicians at Freesound for the background effects. So much fun.… Read the rest

Twilight Time

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 3, 2020 by pwalterNovember 3, 2020

Twilight Time. Another favorite of mine. Such a pretty song. I decided to go with accordion for this song. After I finished it, I thought I could hear pretty voices singing behind the lead and even a tenor sax filling in. So I decided to make a second part. Invited my twin sister back to play second. LOL The biggest problem is the lead player constantly ad libs, adds notes, measures and rests. She is old and can’t remember how she practiced it! That really makes it difficult for the second player. She did her best under the circumstances. LOL “Twilight Time” is a popular song with lyrics by Buck Ram and music by the Three Suns. Les Brown’s version of “Twilight Time” was recorded in November 1944 and released in early 1945 as the B-side of “Sentimental Journey,” the first recording of that song.… Read the rest

Purple People Eater

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 3, 2020 by pwalterNovember 3, 2020

The Purple People Eater – One more Halloween Sing Along. I always liked this song and loved to sing it back in the day. It was a lot of fun to sing today. Many words, but I got most of them in. Hope you enjoy it and sing along. “The Purple People Eater” is a novelty song written and performed by Sheb Wooley, which reached No. 1 in the Billboard pop charts in 1958 from June 9 to July 14… Read the rest

Can’t Take My Eyes Off You

Accordion Player Pat Posted on October 21, 2020 by pwalterOctober 21, 2020

Another interesting, old song from the ’60’s when I was growing up. Easy to hum and easy to dance to. Thank You to the very talented artists at pixaby for the wonderful free graphics. They make the presentation very nice. “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” is a 1967 song written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio. It was recorded as a single by Frankie Valli.… Read the rest

Midnight in Moscow

Accordion Player Pat Posted on October 17, 2020 by pwalterOctober 17, 2020

Midnight in Moscow. I remember hearing this played in the old days. I always liked it and had it on my pile of music to play for quite awhile. I went to You Tube to hear it and all I found were big serious, Russian versions. Then – I found the 1961 version. That’s the way I wanted to play it. Did not need to be serious. Had fun with all the sounds and graphics which were free. Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen played Midnight In Moscow in 1961. Midnight in Moscow, also known as Moscow Nights (Подмосковные вечера), is a Russian song, and one of those best known outside its homeland. Created as “Leningradskie Vechera” (“Leningrad Nights”) by composer Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi and poet Mikhail Matusovsky in 1955 (when both had well-established careers), but at the request of the Soviet Ministry of Culture, the version… Read the rest

OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA

Accordion Player Pat Posted on October 16, 2020 by pwalterOctober 16, 2020

OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA A sing along for Sunday. A feel good song. Rainy day here, so I was looking for a happy song. Again, not perfect in any way – but fun to sing along with. I hope you enjoy it. The tag line “Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah” was an expression used by Nigerian conga player Jimmy Scott-Emuakpor, an acquaintance of McCartney. McCartney wrote “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” in a cod Jamaican ska style and appropriated a phrase popularised by Jimmy Scott, a London-based Nigerian musician, for the song’s title and chorus.… Read the rest

Marianne

Accordion Player Pat Posted on September 27, 2020 by pwalterSeptember 27, 2020

Marianne is a request by my friend Shirley Ann. I make the videos for my friends to enjoy. They are not perfect, but hopefully they are fun and will get you singing and clapping your hands. “Mary Ann,” composed by calypsonian Roaring Lion (born name: Rafael de Leon) was popular with steelbands and revelers during a spontaneous Carnival celebration on V-J Day in Trinidad in 1945, at the end of World War II. The song’s lyrics alluded to Mary Ann’s occupation:… Read the rest

Mr. Lonely

Accordion Player Pat Posted on September 20, 2020 by pwalterSeptember 20, 2020

Mr. Lonely cover by Pat Walter. It’s a lonely, Covid Saturday night – what’s better than playing a lonely song? Nothing crazy, just nice mellow voices from the Roland. Words and Music by Bobby Vinton and Gene Allan in 1962 – the year I graduated from high school. Another oldie, but goodie.… Read the rest

Time In A Bottle with Acoustic Accordion

Accordion Player Pat Posted on September 20, 2020 by pwalterSeptember 20, 2020

Time in a Bottle cover by Pat Walter. Time in a Bottle cover by Pat Walter. I just did Time in a Bottle with my Roland FR 4X. I think it was one of the best videos I have done. There are those acoustic accordion players that much prefer the reeds and bellows to the virtual accordion. Someone said they would like to hear the song on an acoustic accordion. I had been practicing is with my little Weltmeister, but decided to drag out my 29 pound Elkavox. I can hardly lift it, but it has a nice sound. So here it is again – do it until you get it right. I’m not as smooth on the acoustic as my beloved Roland. LOL Not much else to do during the Covid Stay at Home Time anyways. “Time in a Bottle” is a hit single by singer-songwriter Jim Croce. Croce wrote the lyrics after his wife Ingrid told him she was pregnant, in December 1970. Thanks to Pixabay for the wonderful free graphics.… Read the rest

Sleepwalk

Accordion Player Pat Posted on September 10, 2020 by pwalterSeptember 10, 2020

Sleepwalk cover by Pat Walter. “Sleep Walk” is an instrumental tune written, recorded, and released in 1959 by brothers Santo & Johnny Farina, with their uncle Mike Dee playing the drums. Prominently featuring steel guitar. A Facebook friend suggest that the Roland might do an interesting job with this. It took time to program it, but I think it sounds pretty neat. Not quite like the original. I hope you enjoy it.… Read the rest

Yellow Submarine

Accordion Player Pat Posted on September 5, 2020 by pwalterSeptember 5, 2020

Yellow Submarine cover by Pat Walter. McCartney commented in 1966: “It’s a happy place, that’s all … We were trying to write a children’s song. That was the basic idea.” I had a ball with this. My fingers were having more fun than me looking for more keys to play during the song. Just a happy, fun song to sing, listen to or dance to. I hope you enjoy. I know you will not have as much fun listening than I did playing. Love my Roland FR 4X… Read the rest
