Alley Cat

Accordion Player Pat Posted on May 23, 2021 by pwalterMay 23, 2021

Alley Cat. A fun song to play and clap your hands or tap your feet to. I don’t think there was ever a job we played that we didn’t play this. It is a real crowd pleaser. So I though my personal friends will like it since most are not into playing music – but love to listen to old songs they know. The strange note 3rd from the end is when my dog barked at me and surprised me! Everyone’s a critic! “Alley Cat”, also known as “Alleycat” and “The Alley Cat,” is a popular instrumental song made most famous by the Danish pianist and composer Bent Fabric, released in 1962. Fabric (born Bent Fabricius-Bjerre) wrote the tune under the pseudonym Frank Björn. The song was originally released in November, 1961, under the Danish title “Omkring et flygel,” which means “Around a Piano.”… Read the rest

Fancy Pants

Accordion Player Pat Posted on May 17, 2021 by pwalterMay 17, 2021

Fancy Pants. I had more fun playing this song and making the video than a kid in a candy store with a ten dollar bill! So much fun to play. I used the Jazz Scat voices and my trusty tuba. Al Hirt played it up beat and almost Herb Alpert style. I hadn’t listened to the original, so I ended up with an bit slower version. I hope you enjoy the music and you want to clap your hands or dance about a bit. “Fancy Pants” is a song written by Floyd Cramer and was recorded by Al Hirt for his 1965 album, That Honey Horn Sound.… Read the rest

English Country Garden Variations

Accordion Player Pat Posted on April 25, 2021 by pwalterApril 25, 2021

A friend asked that I play Country Garden after hearing it in a British film. It is a fairly simple song and I thought it would be fun to play it with different styles and different instruments via Mr. Roland. 7 variations, 7 instruments and 7 minutes. It is a long journey and I had GREAT fun programing Mr. Roland and choosing what styles to use. I hope it might bring a smile to your face as you spend an afternoon in the Country Garden.… Read the rest

Easter Medley Featuring Bunny Hop, Peter Cottontail & Easter Parade

Accordion Player Pat Posted on April 3, 2021 by pwalterApril 3, 2021

Happy Easter. I celebrate with a chocolate bunny and a few fun songs. The Bunny Hop, Here Come Peter Cottontail and Easter Parade. I hope you enjoy the songs and hum or dance along.
The Bunny Hop has been generally done to Ray Anthony’s big band recording of the song with this name. It was a vocal hit in 1952.
Here Comes Peter Cottontail is a popular secular Easter song composed in 1949, by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins.
Easter Parade is a popular song, written by Irving Berlin and published in 1933. Berlin originally wrote the melody in 1917, under the title Smile and Show Your Dimple.… Read the rest

My New Hats – Sioux City Sue, Over Three Hills, Sitting on Top of the World and 2 more

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 28, 2021 by pwalterMarch 28, 2021

Cowboy – Sioux City Sue
Trolyen – Over Three Hills
Red – I’m Sitting On Top of the World
Brown, rust – Ballin’ The Jack
Blue – Blue Hawaii

My New Hats – A piece of silliness that came to life when my wonderful friend in NC asked me to tell her what I bought. Who doesn’t like buying hats on Amazon. LOL Such a selection. I find it fun to wear different hats with some of my videos. My silver, white hair gives the camera fits against the darker backgrounds. So a hat is a simple solution to a better looking video. I thought I would play a song for each hat!!!! That was fun filming. I am 76 and can’t remember my name some days, so trying to remember and transition between 5 songs was interesting and fun – to say the least. I should have been drinking, I am sure of that! The songs are not perfect but just a fun song for each hat.… Read the rest

Let’s Have Another Cup of Coffee and Let’s Have Another Piece of Pie

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 18, 2021 by pwalterMarch 18, 2021

Let’s Have Another Cup of Coffee and Let’s Have Another Piece of Pie was written by Irving Berlin in 1932. I have fun singing this one. It’s old, but the lyrics are still as good today as in 1932 except we have different presidents! A cup of coffee and a piece of pie always makes us feel good. A second cup of coffee and another piece of pie is even better! I hope you enjoy this silly song and go find yourself a nice piece of pie!… Read the rest

Turn Me Loose

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 3, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 3, 2021

Fun song to play on a cold winter day. Just keep movin’ and groovin’ . I finally let the bari have a solo. He sits in the back just a honkin’ away, so I thought – let him shine!!! LOL Turn Me Loose was written in 1959 by Doc Pomust and Mort Shuman. It was Fabian’s first hit. Hope it gets you bouncing a bit.… Read the rest

Paris in Spring

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 3, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 3, 2021

It’s a cold, winter February 1st, so I am dreaming of “Paris in Spring”. The background in the beginning is the view out my picture window as I practice and make videos. I thought, I needed to play a warm song and dream of warmer days. LOL “Paris in the Spring” is a popular song composed in 1935, with lyrics by Mack Gordon and music by Harry Revel. It was first introduced by Mary Ellis in the film Paris in Spring. A version was also recorded by Ray Noble and His Orchestra (also in 1935).… Read the rest

A Swingin’ Safari

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 6, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 6, 2021

A Swingin’ Safari written by Bert Kaempfert in 1962. A fun song to play. I definitely remember hearing this one the radio and TV back in my old days. Mr. Roland did a good job with some of his many, wonderful sounds. I hope it will bring a smile to your face and get your foot tapping. You can even get up and dance, I did when proofing the video. LOL… Read the rest

All I Want for Christmas is a Great Big Hug and Say Goodbye to the Covid Bug

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 4, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 4, 2021

All I Want for Christmas is a Great Big Hug, Say Goodbye to the Covid Bug. Something different. Sitting at lunch thinking about what Christmas song I could do and started humming this when all of a sudden new words were found! A Parady on All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth! It was fun to do. Don Gardner did the words and Music in 1946 to the original song. He might not be happy with my version, but then again, he isn’t living thru the Covid age.… Read the rest

Green Green

Accordion Player Pat Posted on November 30, 2020 by pwalterNovember 30, 2020

Green Green is another song from my college days. We all liked to sing folks songs back then. I even traded my old accordion in at the pawn shop for a guitar! Accoridonless until 1981. My ex and I started to play as a duo then. This is just a little toe taping music to help you get ready to prepare your Thanksgiving meals! “Green, Green”, a 1963 hit single by The New Christy Minstrels.… Read the rest
