I was camping for a few days in my new camper and of course, it rained for 3 days. LOL I took my Roland 4X with me. Got a chance to play outside once and a few people liked it. Then rain, rain and rain. Recording in the camper is a lot different than in my little studio at home. So I Wished Upon a Star for some sunshine!! … Read the rest
Sentimental Journey. A glimpse at my upcoming camping trips. Mostly in Ohio & West Virginia. Not too far from home, yet. I had most of these trips booked for 2020 and then along came Covid. So I am heading out to get some fresh air and see what’s out there. Most my trips are less than a week and my 2 little dogs will be going with me. Also my accordion. May get to play around a campfire.… Read the rest
I have always loved this song. I can remember hearing it when I was a kid. Always had fun playing it. Perhaps a bit more since I am older and have a Roland FR 4X! I hope you enjoy our outing today. It was much fun for me! “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic” is a song consisting of a melody by American composer John Walter Bratton, written in 1907, and lyrics added by Irish songwriter Jimmy Kennedy in 1932.… Read the rest
A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes. Thanks to George Frank for posting a transcription of this beautiful little song. I started to play it this morning and made it my mission to make a little video. Not a fancy one and I have not practiced for weeks, but wanted to share this pretty little piece of music.… Read the rest
Paradise Lane. George Frank shared his transcription of this old, saloon song. It is a waltz and I am sorry to the composer and George for not playing it as a waltz. Every time I started playing it as a waltz, I thought OLD SALOON SONG and it kept morphing into it’s own style! Like Frank Sinatra said -” I Did It My Way.” I had great fun with it and I know my non-musician friends will like it. LOL Sometimes you just gotta play for yourself and your audience. LOL… Read the rest
Midnight With The Stars and You is a beautiful old song from 1934. George Frank shared his transcription of the song. It was composed by Harry Woods and Reg Connelly. It was recorded by the Ray Nobel Orchestra with Al Bowlly on vocals. I had fun playing it and decided to share an impromptu video. Not perfect, but gives you an idea how pretty the song is.… Read the rest
Absent Minded Flo. A silly old song. Just came across it in my files while looking for something else. I always enjoyed playing it. Sometimes we played it for an audience. Not my best vocal effort, but it was fun singing and playing it. Probably a song only us really mature folks would know. LOL Written by J Fred Coots; Sidney Clare; Charles Tobias in 1933.… Read the rest
Today is my 77th Birthday and I celebrate with a song. There is No Tomorrow – a love song explaining “now is forever when love is true.” Pretty much describes our lives. All we have is the now, today to enjoy, love and cherish. We hope there is a tomorrow, but we live in the now and with our memories. I paged through my fake books looking for a song for today and stopped here. Then, after I practiced it, I realized it is a tune with many names. LOL “There’s No Tomorrow”, written by Al Hoffman, Leo Corday and Leon Carr, is one of two popular songs based on the Italian song, “O Sole Mio” (music by Eduardo di Capua). (The other was “It’s Now or Never”, popularized by Elvis Presley.) The biggest hit version of the song was recorded by Tony Martin, which charted in 1949.… Read the rest
