I have been playing movie theme songs lately and this was requested by Cheri Cheri Huffsteter. I thought the song came from the 1966 movie The Sand pebbles with Steve McQueen which took place during the 1920’s in China. I found out I was wrong after I researched it, but already recorded the song.… Read the rest

Jean is a request from my good friend, Jeanie. She loves Mr. Roland and the whistle sound. So I made a combination of “Jeanie” sounds for Mr. Roland. I always thought this was a very pretty song.… Read the rest
I turned the TV on at 2am the other night and the Move La Strada was just starting. It is in black and white staring Anthony Quinn and is very, very sad. The theme song, however, is one of the most beautiful and haunting songs that I have heard. I wanted to share this beautiful song.… Read the rest
‘Tis Autumn. I was playing thru some books to find a nice Autumn song this morning and came across this one. I thought it was really cute and decided to make a video. It feels like Autumn, yet carefree and happy. Guess that’s because it isn’t about winter. I hope you enjoy our little walk thru the leaves.… Read the rest
Near You. Another song we often played back in the 80’s to our more mature audiences. Just a pretty piece on my little Petosa. “Near You” was a popular song written and originally recorded by Francis Craig and His Orchestra at Castle Studio in 1947.… Read the rest
By the Sleepy Lagoon is a light-orchestral valse serenade by British composer Eric Coates, written in 1930. In 1940 American songwriter Jack Lawrence added lyrics with Coates’ approval; the resulting song, “Sleepy Lagoon”, became a popular-music standard of the 1940s. I hope you enjoy my version.… Read the rest
My Mammy. I have always played and sung this song for as long as I can remember. It always made me sad thinking that the man might not make it home to see his Mammy in time. It’s a story about life – we go out on our own, but never forget home and family. “My Mammy” is an American popular song with music by Walter Donaldson and lyrics by Joe Young and Sam M. Lewis.… Read the rest
Inka Dinka Doo – My Mom passed away three years ago on September 25 when she was 96. I was recently away camping in the rain and almost forgot this year. So I played a silly, old tune by Jimmy Durante and Ben Ryan for her. She loved to dance and would have done an old fashioned soft shoe to this.… Read the rest
played Mexicali Rose yesterday with my Roland Digital Accordion as a swing version. Lots of comments that it is a waltz. Yes, it is a waltz and I often play it that way. BUT, the fun of playing as a soloist is you can do it anyway you want! I have great fun doing different rendition of songs.… Read the rest
I am home and the sun is shining. Better than the days of rain I had while camping. This is such a pretty song. I always played it as a waltz in the past, but I heard a Teresa Brewer swing version. So I thought if it was good enough for her, it would do for me! The music is by Jack B. Tenney and words by Helen Stone written in 1923. Always a favorite when playing for folks. I hope you enjoy it.… Read the rest
