Molly Malone or Cockles and Mussels

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 13, 2021 by pwalterMarch 13, 2021

Always a great sing along. I was playing Irish music this morning and after I played this, I went to turn the page to the next song – Old Molly jumped right in my face and said “I am a well known lady and you should make a video about me”. LOL Since it was international woman’s day earlier, I said OK. So I hope you enjoy this old sing along. It was fun to play. No exact date or composer, but there was a copy of Apollo’s Medley, dating from around 1790, published in Doncaster.… Read the rest

Danny Boy

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 13, 2021 by pwalterMarch 13, 2021

Danny Boy. Never could get through live performances without a few request for me to sing Danny Boy. Never an easy song to sing unless you are an Irish Tenor. Several of my personal friends recently asked if I was going to sing Danny Boy? So here is Danny Boy. Mr. Roland suggest I use the pretty chorus to back me up because they are definitely great singers. LOL This was adapted from an Old Irish Air by Fred E. Weatherly. I hope you enjoy this beautiful song and and sing along as most people like to do.… Read the rest

Undecided

Accordion Player Pat Posted on March 2, 2021 by pwalterMarch 2, 2021

Undecided. I am dedicating this to Spring! Hopefully, it will decide to arrive soon. I invite you sing along with me – no words, just doo, do – da, da! The words were missing on my music, so I decided to just sing with the chorus. So much more fun than trying to remember or read words. This is what I usually do when I am playing, no need for words – just a humming along. LOL Undecided was written by S. Robin and C. Shavers in 1938.… Read the rest

Magic Is The Moonlight

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 19, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 19, 2021

I was looking for a Latin number to play while thinking about being in a warm place. I found this song which was written in 1929. It seemed to be a good Latin beat song. I finally found it on the internet and it has been played every imaginable way – ballad, Latin, Swing and many other versions. So this is my effort to get warm and visit a warm place while dancing around a bit. LOL… Read the rest

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 17, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 17, 2021

It’s a very cold, windy and icy day in Ohio, so I thought I would make a warm video. 3 minutes of warmth. Jamaica Farewell was written by Lord Irving Burgie and was recorded by Harry Belafonte in 1957. I hope you enjoy your few minutes of warmth, I enjoyed the short vacation to record the video.… Read the rest

Why Do Fools Fall In Love – so they can celebrate Valentine’s Day! Just a fun song to play. Seul Ce Soir Or I Am Alone This Evening

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 6, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 6, 2021

Seul Ce Soir Or I Am Alone This Evening. Seems an appropriate song to play on a cold winter night. I like to play this and play it quite often. Usually without mistakes, but I guess the winter has gotten to my fingers. I left the few extra notes and just liked the whole song. I think you could go to sleep if you listen to the whole piece. It was written in 1941 by Paul Durand, Jean Cassonova & Rose Noel. It is French chanson and now fully integrated into the Gypsy jazz tradition, this is a lovely melody and a jam favorite. Tempo-wise, Seul Ce Soir straddles that space between a swing tune and a ballad. Call it a ‘walking ballad.’ Whatever you call it, it’s a joy to play.… Read the rest

Accordion Player Pat Posted on February 3, 2021 by pwalterFebruary 3, 2021

Fun song to play on a cold winter day. Just keep movin’ and groovin’ . I finally let the bari have a solo. He sits in the back just a honkin’ away, so I thought – let him shine!!! LOL Turn Me Loose was written in 1959 by Doc Pomust and Mort Shuman. It was Fabian’s first hit. Hope it gets you bouncing a bit.… Read the rest

Chattanoogo Choo Choo

Accordion Player Pat Posted on January 26, 2021 by pwalterJanuary 26, 2021

Chattanooga Choo Choo. I have been going clickity clackity down the tracks with this since I did the Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy. Normally, we always played it upbeat and fairly fast as it was originally recorded. But I was sipping my wine at dinner tonight and thought – let’s slow the train down! So wine glass and all I was soon aboard – slowly chugging down the track. It’s not perfect, but I had a lot of fun playing it at this slower pace. Hopefully you the train ride. “Chattanooga Choo Choo” written by Mack Gordon and composed by Harry Warren in 1941. It was originally recorded as a big band/swing tune by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra and featured in the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade. It was the first song to receive a gold record, presented by RCA Victor in 1942, for sales of 1.2 million copies.… Read the rest
