The White Cliffs of Dover
The White Cliffs of Dover is one of my absolute favorites. It is such a beautiful song about faith and hope. With all the crazy stuff going on in our world – Covid-19, hurricanes, massive fires – I thought we can all use some hope. This is my 101st video. I thought I would start my second century of videos with a beautiful song. On to the polkas and hand clappers tomorrow.
“(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover” is a popular World War II song composed in 1941 by Walter Kent to lyrics by Nat Burton. The song was written about a year after the Royal Air Force and German Luftwaffe aircraft had been fighting over southern England, including the white cliffs of Dover, in the Battle of Britain. Nazi Germany had conquered much of Europe and in 1941 was still bombing Britain.
